This World
War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer is a landmark to the Allied
troops who lost their lives in Normandy.
A green
field with white crosses and stars of David displayed symmetrical, who give
name to 1557 American soldiers.
At the
center is a 22-foot bronze statue entitled “The Spirit of American Youth Rising
from the Waves” in a clear reference to the Disembark.
On the
walls next to the statue we can see 2 maps, one of the landings in the Normandy
beaches and other with the military operations in the Western Europe.
