Across Siberia – The enchantment of the extremes

Riding through Siberia is a one of a kind experience, the vast space known for their extreme temperatures, but can also be seen as a place who hides many wonders, and far away from the chaos of the most touristic places in Russia.

Where we travel, we passed in the forest zone known as taiga, with swamps and manly pine trees.

The houses in Siberia are modest, colorful and mostly made with wood on the outside. The green fields with these houses make amazing views when you are on board in the train.

Over the days of the trip we seen in many stops antique locomotives who made the Trans-Siberian route, is nice to know people take care of their treasures.

Krasnoyarsk, Russia – The secret city in Siberia

As famous writer Anton Chekhov said, the most beautiful city in Siberia, and you can imagine why he said that, with the amazing landscapes we can find there.

The Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel who is featuring in the notes of 10 rubles, have importance to Russia culture. The Chapel watches over the city in the top of the hill, when in ancient times, the location was used to prevent attacks.

We passed the Yenisey River in a pedestrian bridge; there we can really feel the vast space that Siberia has to offer. The temperatures here can reach the 30ºC in the summer and the -40ºC in the winter, huge amplitude that can be difficult to handle sometimes.

We say goodbye to this city, by arriving to the train station, once again the distinct green can be seen in the roof of many public and emblematic buildings, what a great way to end our visit to the city.

Novosibirsk, Russia - Deep into Siberia

The Capital of Siberia was founded as a transport hub in the end of the 19th century.

At the train station, with the especial green color, we were welcomed
in the traditional Russian fashion with bread and salt. We were introduced to the local Russian dance and singing.

The Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre was constructed in the Soviet Era to promote culture in the area and is well known for his dome.

We can also find the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, once again different from the other churches we seen so far on the trip.

Ural Mountains, Russia - Between Europe and Asia

We reach the location who separates Europe from Asia, and here you can put your right foot on Europe and your left foot on Asia, like I did in the photo.

To commemorate the event, we drink some champagne, what better way to move forward to Siberia.

Waiting for us was a local band who recreated the dresses, dance and music from the Cossacks, group of people who lived mainly in the Asiatic Russia. Their music was melodic but with a kind of warrior rhythm.
